Prayer Warriors of the Holy Souls

THE PRAYER WARRIORS OF THE HOLY
SOULS (PWHS) is an apostolate of the MONFORT FOUNDATION, INC., a non-stock,
non-profit foundation, whose Founding-President is Dr. Narciso D. Monfort, M.D.
VISION STATEMENT:
The PWHS is a Catholic Apostolate of committed,
prayerful members involved in activities to uplift suffering souls and to assist
the living on how to avoid purgatory.
MISSION STATEMENT:
To create and spread global awareness on the
plight of the holy souls in purgatory thru sustainable efforts; to pray for the
holy souls; to strengthen the faith and longing for holiness of the Prayer
Warriors; and to tap resources to sustain the apostolate.
The PRAYER WARRIORS of the HOLY SOULS is
composed of dedicated individuals who pray, offer masses, do works of mercy for
the intentions of the holy souls, and recruit members who will identify with the
cause of assisting the holy souls reach their state of perfection so as to be
able to enter the Kingdom of God, in an accelerated pace.
The PWHS, which was organized in July 29,
1992, is recognized by the Association of the Holy Souls (AHS) as the official
organization in the Philippines that shares its objectives. The AHS is under the
care of the MONASTERY PIUS XII based in Fatima, Portugal.
The following are the milestone events:
July 1999 -
The start of the publication of the “Fore & Aft”, the PWHS quarterly
newsletter;
October 1999
- The selection of Rev. Fr. Michell Joe B. Zerrudo (Fr. Jojo) as Spiritual
Director of the PWHS; his selection had the blessings of His Eminence, Jaime L.
Cardinal Sin.
July 29, 2000
- The holding of the First National Congress of the PWHS where the prayer of St.
Gertrude for the Holy Souls was launched.
Sep. 11, 2000
- The start of the monthly mass attended by PWHS members that is celebrated
every 2nd Monday at 11:00am
at the Chapel of the Holy Souls inside the Manila Cathedral.
Nov. 2, 2000 - The launching of the annual nationwide Commemoration of the Faithful
Departed with the PWHS taking the lead role in a Eucharistic celebration with
the venue as directed by the Archbishop of Manila, Jaime Cardinal L. Sin.
Nov. 22, 2000
- The launching of the PWHS 30-minute radio program “Ala-Alang Walang Hanggan”
over Radio Veritas where Fr. Jojo has Bible-based teachings on the Holy Souls;
presently it is 1-hour radio program every 2nd Sunday of the month from 7:00pm to 8:00pm
Jan. 2, 2002 -
Launching of the Prayer of St. Gertrude for the
Holy Souls over National Broadcasting Network – NBN Channel 4.
Feb. 26, 2002 -
Launching of the Prayer of St. Gertrude over
Nationwide Radio via the PHILIPPINE BROADCASTING SERVICE

Others:
- PWHS has a computerized database; website; e-mail address; and hotline text (SMS)
- PWHS has gone global in its program for members. As of June 13, 2008 PWHS has
97,934 members in 55 countries, and in 78 provinces in the Philippines.
- Daily masses and vigil at the Blessed Sacrament in various churches are offered
for the holy souls and for the intentions of the members;
The Deputy Executive Director of the PWHS is
Carlos Oda, and the Executive Director is Chita G. Monfort, who is also the
Editor-in-chief of the PWHS quarterly publication “Fore & Aft”.
